NCRD SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN

The NCRD has prepared a draft update to our region’s Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP). The SWMP provides a foundation for managing refuse and recyclables for the next five to ten years with the primary goal to reduce the amount of municipal solid waste disposed at our landfills.

The NCRD is now seeking your feedback on the draft SWMP:

1. Please fill out Survey #2 - https://arcg.is/0O8vae0; and

2. Attend an Open House in Masset, Daajing Giids, Prince Rupert, or online.

Garbage collection is a service provided for Daajing Giids residents by the North Cost Regional District. All homeowners living in a municipality or a rural area of the regional district participate in the garbage collection service. Collections are made once per week. In the event of a Statutory holiday, an alternate pick up day is provided with notice in the newspaper. Two bags per household are allowed in regulation garbage cans. Garbage must be curbside by 8:30 am and stored in an animal proof container.

Extra garbage will be collected only if an additional garbage tag is affixed to the contents of an additional regulation garbage receptacle. Garbage tags are available for $2, purchased at the following location:

  • Village of Daajing Giids Office

If you have any questions or comments concerning residential garbage, please contact the North Coast Regional District (NCRD) office at (250) 557-9339 or the contractor Big Red Enterprises at (250) 559-8880.

For any billing inquires, please email: accountsreceivable@ncrdbc.com Please Note: You will see garbage collection fees on your Village of Daajing Giids quarterly utility bill as we assist the regional district with fee collection for municipal residences. This eliminates the need for an additional bill from NCRD.
